What is a Fee Estimate?
A fee estimate is a term used when an estimate is written to verify other estimates or to set the benchmark for estimates to follow with the understanding that the company writing the estimate will not benefit from performing the repairs.
Fee Estimating, while a free part of our "Core Services", can be used as a stand alone service to clients who decide this service satisfies there needs. . Step Up Construction is unique in Its ability to perform such services. We do not have ties to your adjuster or your Insurance Carrier. When retained to provide a Fee Estimate, we will provide an estimate that is objective and encompasses all necessary repairs inclusive of current commodity pricing. A Fee Estimate provided by Step Up Construction will likely be considerably higher than that of those provided by Contractors referred to an Insured by his or her adjuster. This difference in pricing is not "pie in the sky"; this difference reflects the discrepancies between a well written and inclusive scope of repair and one that is not. Many times our clients are told by the insurance adjuster "don't worry about it, we will pay the difference if the contractor has to do more". While this sounds nice, and protects the Carriers position, it does very little to protect the Insured. It is good business to know the total cost of repairs prior to allowing a Contractor to start work or accepting a settlement from the Insurance Carrier.
